Harry Potter VS Twilight by ~Chikara3002:iconChikara3002:

HARRY POTTER
$4,485,466,623 movie gross
400 million copies of the books worldwide, 67 languages
1998-2007

TWILIGHT
42 million copies of the books WORLDWIDE
37 different languages
2005-2008
$376,148,833 for Twilight the movie

Just for Fun, If We Divide The Numbers and do the Math, then:

Harry Potter has sold 44.4 million books per year since it was published, OR 57 million copies for each of the seven books

Twilight Has sold 15.6 million books per year since it was published OR 11.7 million copies for each of the four books

The Harry Potter Movies, rounding DOWN to 4 billion instead of the actual number above (As of Prior to The Releases of Half-blood Prince And Deathly Hallows) Have grossed 800 million each. Including worst possible scenarios, let's say HBP and DH only gross 350 mil each( as in, BOTH DH movies will only grosse 350 mil combined). that would then add to the already rounded down number of 4 billion and bringing it up to 4.7 billion. The new calculations would be (rounding down again): 671 million gross for each movie

The Twilight Film Series
Let's assume Twilight-mania takes over and they do REALLY well with the rest of the movies and they each gross 700 million bucks, which would bring the total of the movie series to(I'm rounding UP again): 2.5 billion dollars, giving EACH movie (rounding up ONCE MORE ) 620 million dollars each.

BUT
We must also take into acount there are more HP books then there are Twilight books, so to make things fair, let's see what happens when I slash HP's actual total movie gross and book sales by approx. forty percent (because taking away 3 HP books out of 7 is approx 40%ish ).  Twilight's rounded up totals will remain intact (since the probability that Twilight-mania will grow is actually plausible).  HP's new totals would then be:

* $2,691,279,974 for all four movies OR 672 million dollars per movie
*240 million books sold worldwide OR 60 million copies per book

If Twilight were to beat Harry Potter, they would have to keep the very good future statictics I gave them and Harry Potter would have to have done as badly as my rounded down statistics did for it AND be only 4 books, but it is not so.

Basically, Harry Potter's total, despite worst case scenarios, AND rounding down several of the totals (but not the last ones), still totally pwns Twilight's miniscule sales, despite me rounding UP their totals and giving them heaven-sent movie grosses. Harry potter has also been translated into more languages, despite the fact that they're the more challenged story of the two by religious leaders and such.

I know we'll never settle the dispute between which one people think is 'cooler' or 'better' but I have just taken away all the Financial ammo from said dispute. (^^)V

Can't argue with THAT logic and I'd sure as hell like to see someone try! XD

Heehee, it seems poor Twilight won't be able to beat Harry Potter no matter how well they do. 'Tis the cirlce of literature life i suppose! :3

I was just bored and wanted to see which book series was doing better financially. I'm a Harry Potter fan, btw.

All posts are welcome, even bad ones because I will just lol at them.

These book series don't belong to me, they belong to:
Twilight Series ⓒ Stephenie Meyer
Harry Potter ⓒ J.K. Rowling

all the same to me. i love both of them lol btw harry potter is bound to make more money. been out longer, it has a bigger age range althought twilight still has some younger fans, and there are more movies becouse there were more books lol i dont know you also have to take that into fact a bit.

:) Harry Potter is brilliant work of imagination and creativity, Twilight is just a weak soppy romance series that scarcely contains a plotline.

That is all ^^

It is a very sad thing that nowadays there is so little useless information.

When i read this, there was the stupid "Whish series is hotter HP or Twi." Banner on your page...

Just thought I'd share that, considering the irony... LOL

As for me, I like both series'... But HP will ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS be better. :)

You rock!

I already had most of the stats memorized, and I constantly shout them in people's faces if they even SUGGEST that Twilight might someday get bigger than Harry Potter.

THIS just made my day and will significantly strengthen my argument. You can't argue with mathematics. Harry Potter will always be the best. ^_^
:iconakatsuki-muffinthief:
Harry Potter, has and will always be better then twilight considering twilight, is one of the most horribly written books/movies out there today.

Shikamaru for president. :3
:iconmousetalon:
Cant argue with that logic. harry potter pwns twilight its as simple as that.
